ok..i've switched to using Mozilla Firefox. seems alot cooler than IE actually. now that my IE has screwed up (my comp either hangs or restarts itself if i open an IE window), i have to use other browsers -_-'. Opera is kinda lame actually..i can't even blog properly using that browser.

anyways..there's so much on my mind now but i'm too shagged to blog. i'll update later i guess.

p.s. talk about defiance, lol. last week when i was the squad i/c, we marched by an ASP (or was it a DSP?), and i didn't pay compliments to the guy lol. the officer was stunned, i can clearly remember the puzzled look on his face as we marched by, with me completely ignoring him. next, during sentry, it so happened that i was manning the main gate, and the deputy CDI (Chief Drill Instructor) rode by in his bike, and again i didnt pay compliments to him lol. and today, i finally paid my price for my disrespectful deeds. coincidentally, i was the squad i/c again today, and we were all assembled in the parade square for flag raising in the morning. FI Calvin (the sadistic one) happened to walk by my squad, but i didn't greet him, just because (lol). but the i/c of the squad next to us greeted him. then he turned back, and went "eh thambi, u never see me is it?". LOL. obviously that was directed at me. "never mind, you knock it down first. carry on 20. no, 50." -_-' it was kinda embarassing really, cause i was the only one shouting in the parade square, and by the time i asked him for permission to recover, he happened to be at the other end of the parade square.zzz.

p.p.s. moral of the story is, a squad i/c must always remember to greet all officers who are higher ranking than him, and should remember to pay compliments to senior officers (i.e. rank of station inspector n above).

night.

seems that i've lost contact with my closest friends. hanif has finally enlisted into the army, and arjun is probably half a million miles away (in india? or was it hawaii?), doing medical attachments and building an impressive resume.

seriously, turning 19 has to be the worst period of my life. not only am i bored, but also disillusioned, confused, and aimless.

English Translation

If life is just a momentary dream
It must be something like a flower
Even if our fate is to fall like petals
We are all the more beloved in our transience

Something we lost once somewhere
Something we left behind somewhere that day
And that which is left in our hands
Accompany us down this road

What are you thinking of now?
What can I do?

Is it so precious because it has no form?
Is it so beautiful it's cruel?

Even if it rains, even if the wind blows
On blazing days and silent nights
Even if this is the ends of the Earth
I want to show you the rest of the dream

I will make a beautiful flower bloom
And then offer it to you
I will make a beautiful flower bloom
And then offer it to you

What are you thinking of now?
What can I do?

I will make a beautiful flower bloom
And then offer it to you
I will make a beautiful flower bloom
And then offer it to you

I will sing a song
I will sing at your side
I will sing a song
I will sing at your side

goddess ayumi's lyrics never fail to intrigue me.. this is indeed one of her better songs.

went for the NUS open house today..rather reluctantly. as expected, i learned virtually nothing from it. the talks were pretty general, and the brochures offered by the various departments at the exhibition were equally vague. what irked me was the staff on duty..they couldn't even provide decent answers to our questions -_-'. bah. the only good thing that happened was getting hold of the University Scholars' Programme application form. then again, you can apply online..so, my trip was rather redundant, right? basically you can apply for the programme in either one of two categories, excellent academic record (me? excellent? -_-') or outstanding singular talent (which i doubt i have). and you have to write an essay-cum-personal statement, which forms the basis of selection. if shortlisted, you have to go for an interview, and after that the panel will decide whther to admit you into the programme. i hope i can get it though..i see this as an opportunity to escape the dullness of university life. imagine reading first-tier and advanced modules for my major that those not in the program won't get access to, and going overseas for fieldtrips and immersion projects..sounds pretty interesting. oh, and it seems the faculty of science offers a double degree programme..and i'm still clueless of the admission criteria. bah..application to university is so damn cumbersome.

that aside, did i mention POP is in 3 weeks? and my examination is in 9 days? bah..there's a multitude of things i need to sort out right now.

i've decided.. i'll apply for Life Science (with concentration in biomedical science) as my major. and Economics as my minor. sounds neat, doesn't it? lol.

that aside, good luck to everyone else applying for uni..may all of you get your preferred courses.

A level results were released today..i got A2 for GP, As for bio, chem and econs, and B for math (wtf?). well..my math always sucked anyway..lol. so now, the question is, whether or not to go overseas (i.e. University of Melbourne, Australia) to read biomedical science. i'm definitely guaranteed a place there, as the entry requirements for biomed for international applicants are AAB for bio, chem and math/physics, and a pass in GP.

of course the downside will be that i won't be in SG, and being the slacker i am.. who knows what may happen to my studies if i go overseas..lol. so, there's always the other option of BSc (Life Science (conc. in BiomedSc)) offered by NUS.

in fact, FASS (NUS) also seems rather appealing to me. i mean, i could read political science or international relations.

so..the dilemma remains. life science or political science? opinions anyone?
